Between an array and a charge controller, size the breaker at 1.25 times the array's short-circuit current and at least the controller's rated input; between a battery and an inverter, size it to the inverter's continuous DC current with the same margin, and check the breaker's DC voltage rating against your bank. Every breaker here is rated for DC; an AC breaker is not a substitute.
