What it is, and what it is for

The Tigo Rapid Shutdown System (RSS) Transmitter is a key component of a rapid shutdown solution when used alongside the Tigo TS4-F (Fire Safety) units, which are PV module rapid shutdown devices. When activated, the RSS Transmitter communicates with TS4-F units, ensuring that the PV modules remain connected and continue to generate energy.

When the RSS Transmitter is turned off, the TS4-F units automatically initiate a rapid shutdown, disconnecting the energy production. Once the RSS Transmitter is powered back on, the units resume normal operation. This system meets the NEC 690.12 requirements for the years 2014, 2017, and 2020, employing PLC signaling to achieve rapid shutdown.

Included in the RSS Transmitter Outdoor Kit are the RSS Transmitter itself, an outdoor enclosure, a 120/240VAC power supply, and one or two RSS Cores.

The TS4-A-F also adheres to the NEC 2017 & 2020 690.12 Rapid Shutdown requirements when it is installed either with the Tigo RSS Transmitter or an inverter that includes a Tigo-certified built-in transmitter.
